The Cabinet has taken the following decisions regarding the elimination of salary anomalies in teacher-principal services, including the payment of a special allowance of Rs. 5,000 each to teachers and principals who perform their duties for the months of September and October.
- Approving the Implementation of Impeachments of the Cabinet Sub-Committee as a Policy.
- Publicate by a gazette notification before 20th November 2021, naming teacher service, teacher advisory service and principal service as closed services.
- Taking necessary steps to implement the recommended salary revisions for the elimination of teacher-principal salary anomalies by the Cabinet Sub-Committee, in a phased manner through the 2022 budget proposal.
- Payment of Special Allowance of Rs. 5,000 each to the Teachers and Principals engaged in their duties for the months of September and October 2021.
- Taking necessary steps by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Provincial Councils and other relevant authorities to implement the other proposals of the Sub-Committee within 06 months.
The Cabinet has taken these decisions after considering the recommendations of the Cabinet Sub-Committee appointed to look into the salary crisis and make recommendations to the Cabinet.
These recommendations were made to the Cabinet in consultation with the representatives of 33 teachers, principals and teacher advisor trade unions.
In line with those recommendations, the Cabinet of Ministers considered and reached the above decisions.
