Vega innovations is set to launch the latest electric-powered three-wheeler in Sri Lanka around April-May next year, in response to skyrocketing vehicle prices in Sri Lanka.
Through this latest eco-friendly product, which is already in demand in several foreign countries, it will be possible to turn Sri Lanka, which is in a huge dollar crisis due to the Kovid epidemic, into a valuable inflow of dollars, and this will be a great opportunity to earn billions of dollars a year in revenue into the country.
By next January, seven three-wheelers will be fully manufactured and three more will be assembled, said its director Dr. Beshan Kulapala.
The Director said that the three-wheeler will be manufactured with a focus on foreign markets and will be manufactured in such a way that the people of Sri Lanka can travel comfortably and carry goods same time at affordable prices.
Vega plans to plan and manufacture this electric three-wheeler locally. He revealed that there is already a demand in Africa for this and orders are being sought.
This three-wheeler is completely electric and does not have an engine. It can run a minimum of 120 km on a single charge. The solar panel mounted on the roof charges it while driving in the sunlight and when it is parked in the sunlight, which allows it to travel extra distances.
The director explains that it can accommodate up to four people, including the driver, and that the rear seat can be folded like a car, and does not have an engine, thus providing ample space for the rear to carry luggage.
The director says that this three-wheeler is less expensive than the Bajaj electric three-wheeler.
“Also, we have designed this three-wheeler to be more efficient, comfortable and with less expense for 5 years. It can be said that this is a Made in Sri Lanka product. Like the Vega car, all the designs on this electric three-wheeler were designed by Sri Lankan engineers.” The director said.
The company expects a $ 32.65 billion global market for these electric three-wheelers by 2027.
Vega innovations, the manufacturer of this electric three-wheeler, also manufactured the super Vega car in Sri Lanka recently introduced internationally.
