The Colombo Epidemiology Unit states that about 25% of the total population of Sri Lanka has been given both vaccines by today.

This was stated by Dr. Samitha Ginige, Acting Chief Epidemiologist, Colombo, Division of Epidemiology.

About 55 percent of the population has been vaccinated with a single dose, he said.

“We need 23 million doses of the vaccine to vaccinate the population over the age of 30 in Sri Lanka and we have already received about 20 million doses,” he said.

From September, vaccinations are also planned for people between the ages of 18 and 30, said Dr. Samitha.
