Five pistols were found hidden in a jungle area near the Weligama Medical Officer of Health office by the Police Narcotics Bureau this morning. It is suspected that those were brought to Sri Lanka along with the drugs by sea from Pakistan using boats.

In addition to the five pistols, eight magazine firearms and 10 ammunition were found at the scene.

The firearm was found under a tree and the Narcotics Bureau had received information about it.

It is suspected that the firearms belonged to a drug dealer named Harakkata. According to information received by the Police Narcotics Bureau, special operations are being carried out in Weligama and Midigama areas following the receipt of a stock of firearms from Pakistani smugglers along with narcotics to Harakkata.
