Hospital sources reported that news circulating on social media saying that former Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera has passed away is false and he is recovering well.
The sources said that his Covid condition is returning to normal and he could be transferred to a normal ward by tomorrow.
He was admitted to a private hospital in Colombo due to a Covid infection and was treated at the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital for several days.
