Three mutant variants of the Delta COVID strain of the COVID-19 virus, which is spreading in Sri Lanka, have been identified.

This was stated by the Minister of State Prof. Channa Jayasumana in Parliament today (17).

Channa Jayasumana also said that it could be a reason for the increase in the spread of COVID disease.

The Minister of State also said that a change in genetic codes of SA 222V, SA 701S and SA 1078S can be seen in the Delta variety of the country.
