It has been decided to hold the Kandy Esala Perahera without the participation of the people.
The first Kumbul Perahera will take to the streets on August 13 and will continue until August 17, said Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela.
He also says that the Randoli Perahera will take to the streets for five days from August 18 and the final Randoli Perahera will be held on the 22nd.
This year’s Esala Perahera is scheduled to conclude on August 23 with a Diya Kapeema ceremony centered around the 04 main Devala and the Day Perahera entering the premises. Later in the evening, the Perahera Sandeshaya will be presented to the President at the Presidential Palace, reminding him of an ancient tradition that the Perahera was a success.
It is also stated that the craftsmen and security personnel participating in the Perahera will act inside a bio-security bubble.
