100 Trade Unions prepare for a protest near Independence Square

Secretary of the Sri Lanka Teachers’ Union Joseph Stalin said that a protest will be held in Independence Square in Colombo tomorrow (12) at 10 am demanding the elimination of the salary anomaly of teachers and principals.

He added that the event will be held with the participation of 100 trade unions in the government, semi-government and private sectors.

Mr. Stalin said that only the leader of one trade union would take part in the protest and that 100 people representing 100 unions would take part in the protest.

Mr. Stalin also said that hundreds of unions from many sectors, including teachers, postal, railway, port, apparel and banking sectors, would take part in the protest.
