47 bodies that remained at the Ragama Hospital, have been cremated at 32 crematoriums in Gampaha in the past two days.
A senior police official said that the cremation was carried out by the Health Department, the Police, the Public Health Inspectors and the Gampaha District Political Authority.
Covid’s bodies were piled up at the Ragama Hospital due to a problem with the capacity of the crematorium, the official said. At that time, the Gampaha Political Authority coordinated 32 crematoriums in Gampaha to facilitate the cremation of the bodies, the official said.
He further stated that only 12 bodies remain to be cremated today.
