President Gotabaya Rajapaksa called on the Most Venerable Aggamaha Pandita Dodampahala Chandasiri Maha Nayaka Thero, the new Mahanayake of the Sri Lanka Amarapura Maha Nikaya, last evening (05).
The President visited the Thapovana Meditation Centre at Kalapaluwawa, Rajagiriya, where the prelate resides, and extended greetings to the new Mahanayake Thero.
Appreciating the service rendered by the Amarapura Maha Nikaya religiously, nationally and in terms of the Sasana, the President said that he and the Government would extend their fullest support to continue this service.
The President extended wishes to the Mahanayake Thero for a long life and placed a special note in the visitors’ book.
The Maha Sangha chanted Seth Pirith and blessed the President who was engaged in religious observances in the shrine of sacred relics.
