Control Price for Covid Tests

Lasantha Alagiyawanna, State Minister of Cooperative Services, Marketing Development and Consumer Protection stated that a control price will be set for Rapid Antigen testing and PCR tests which done to confirm infection of Covid 19 virus.

The Minister of State said that when the Consumer Affairs Authority inspected 45 hospitals conducting PCR tests and 43 hospitals conducting rapid antigen testing in 21 districts, it was found that each hospital was charging different fees and there was a need to impose a control price.

The Minister of State said that a PCR test will cost between Rs. 5,000 and Rs. 9550 and an antigen test will cost between Rs. 2000 and Rs. 5900.

Accordingly, the maximum price for these tests will be decided by next week and necessary steps will be taken to implement them, he added.
