Sniffer dogs will identify the breeding grounds of mosquitoes to help officials in the fight against dengue fever.

The Police Kennels Division has successfully trained two Police dogs to detect dengue breeding grounds, Police Spokesperson Senior DIG Ajith Rohana said.

He told the media that the two Police dogs named ‘Jenny’ and ‘Roma’ attached to the Kandy Police Kennels Division have been trained for this purpose.

‘Jenny’ and ‘Roma’ will be assigned to operations carried out by the Police Environment Division, while also supporting the efforts of Public Health Inspectors to identify dengue breeding grounds.
