The Minister of Education Prof. G. L. Peiris says that appropriate steps will be taken to eliminate the salary anomalies of teachers and principals in the forthcoming budget thinking of the entire public service.
The Minister was responding to a question raised in Parliament today (03) seeking an oral answer.
The Minister pointed out that the issue of teachers’ salaries is a long standing issue and in this case parallel services should be considered.
The Minister said that the government has a sincere desire to resolve the issue of teacher principals. He said that the Cabinet which met yesterday also discussed the issue of increasing the salaries of teachers.
