The Cabinet has approved the establishment of a National Radio Channel for Primary, Secondary, Higher Education and Tertiary Education.

The statement issued by the Cabinet Office states:

The Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Mass Media and Information are planning to launch an island-wide radio education channel to address the educational disparities caused by the Kovid-19 epidemic. As it will take some time to complete the necessary infrastructure, the Minister of Education and the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) will use a Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) channel to broadcast education programs. The Joint Motion moved by the Minister of Mass Media and Information was approved by the Cabinet.
