According to information received by the Kalutara District Crime Investigation Unit, a person was arrested with 40 kilos of heroin worth around Rs. 400 million during a special operation in the Renukana area in Bandaragama this morning.
According to a telephone call received from the United Arab Emirates, the suspect was arrested while transporting heroin from one place to another, police said.
According to a senior police official, it appears that the drug trade is being run from Dubai.
The suspect has been handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau for further investigations.
