Three Australians have been summoned by the Colombo High Court today (28) to testify in a case filed against Minister Udaya Gammanpila alleging that he misappropriated Rs. 20 million by selling shares in an Australian-owned company using a fake power of attorney.

When the case was taken up, the State Counsel stated that it was necessary to record the evidence of three Australians named as witnesses in the case and issued summons to them to appear before the court accordingly.

The judge granted the request, issued a summons and recall the case on September 30.

The case was filed against Minister Gammanpila during the last good governance government alleging misappropriation of Rs. 20 million during 1997 by selling shares of a company owned by Brian Shadrick, an Australian businessman, using a fake power of attorney.
