Piliyandala Medical Officer of Health Indika Ellawala said at a press conference in Colombo yesterday that patients suffering from non-communicable diseases and allergies would not be harmed by the Covid vaccine.

Indika Ellawala said that people suffering from non-communicable diseases are more likely to die if they are infected with the Covid virus and therefore such people should be vaccinated.

“People with common allergies should be vaccinated at vaccination centers, and people with severe allergies should go to a hospital and get the Covid vaccine,” he said.

Meanwhile, there is no harm in getting Covid vaccine for the elderly and they should definitely go and get Covid vaccine irrespective of their age, said Indika Ellawala.
