Former Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, along with his wife Kusum Rambukwella and daughter Amali Rambukwella, was arrested today (June 18) by officials of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.

Their arrests are part of an ongoing investigation into alleged misuse of public funds amounting to Rs. 8 million during Keheliya Rambukwella’s tenure as a minister, specifically involving salary and overtime payments to members of his personal staff.

Authorities say the wife and daughter were taken into custody for aiding and abetting in connection with the misappropriation.

Previously, Keheliya’s son, Ramith Rambukwella, was also arrested by the same commission over related allegations. He is currently in remand custody following his court appearance.
