According to a lead story in today’s Lankadeepa newspaper, 183 out of 483 essential and life-saving medicines are in severe shortage in numerous hospitals across the country.
Citing health sector sources, the report reveals that 3 out of 13 life-saving drugs are completely unavailable in hospitals at present.
A recent report released by the Health Professionals’ Association further highlights a critical shortage of medicines in medical supply warehouses, with some drugs available only in insufficient quantities.
