A petition has reportedly been filed with the Supreme Court seeking an order to reject the nomination of former Member of Parliament Ranjan Ramanayake, who is contesting from the Gampaha District under the United Democratic Voice Organization for the upcoming general election.
The petitioner, K.M. Mahinda Senanayake, an independent candidate from the Gampaha District, has requested a ruling that Ranjan Ramanayake be deemed ineligible for a parliamentary seat and for voting rights.
The petition names the Election Commission and its members, Ranjan Ramanayake, and the Gampaha District Returning Officer as respondents.
