The American Embassy in the country warns that the embassy has received reliable information warning of an attack targeting popular tourist spots in the Arugam Bay area.
Due to the serious risk posed by this threat, Embassy officials have therefore imposed a travel ban on Arugam Bay immediately and until further notice.
The American Embassy further emphasizes to American tourists visiting the country to avoid traveling to the Arugambay area, to keep a communication device (such as a mobile phone) with them whenever possible, and to call 119 immediately in case of anything suspicious.
Also, the American Embassy informs the Americans visiting Sri Lanka to leave the place immediately if they feel something is not right and to be constantly aware of the media and news.
