Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Dhammika Priyantha has been appointed as the new director of the State Intelligence Service (SIS). He is expected to assume his new position tomorrow (07).
Major General Suresh Sallay, who previously served in this role, has retired from military service. His retirement coincides with the appointment of DIG Dhammika Priyantha.
Dhammika Priyantha is a graduate who completed his secondary education at Kalutara Central College and entered the Sri Lanka Police as a probationary Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) after graduating from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
On February 14, 2021, he was one of 15 probationary ASPs recruited to the Sri Lanka Police. Among this group, an officer named Lakshman Kure is currently in prison, and another member of the group is Varuna Jayasundara, the head of the Special Task Force (STF).
