The newly appointed Prime Minister, Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, visited the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa) in Kandy this afternoon to receive blessings after paying homage to the sacred relic.
She was welcomed by Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela, after which she proceeded to the shrine where the sacred Tooth Relic is housed and engaged in religious observances.
Following her visit to the Temple of the Tooth, Prime Minister Amarasuriya visited the Malwathu Maha Viharaya, where she met with the Most Venerable Thibbatuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Thero, the Mahanayake of the Malwathu Chapter, for a cordial discussion. The Maha Sangha of the Karaka Sangha Sabha of the Malwathu Viharaya were also present during this occasion. Afterward, she visited the Asgiri Maha Viharaya.
At the Asgiri Maha Viharaya, in the Mangala Uposatha Hall, she met with the Most Venerable Warakagoda Sri Gnanarathana Thero, the Mahanayake of the Asgiri Chapter, who bestowed blessings upon her, while the Anunayake Thero, Venerable Anamaduwe Dhammadassi Thero, delivered an Anusasana (religious discourse) offering his well-wishes.
Several dignitaries, including the Governor of the Central Province, Professor Sarath Abeykoon, also participated in the event.
