The Excise Department has announced that all licensed liquor outlets will be closed on the 21st and 22nd of this month due to the 2024 Presidential Election.
According to the department’s notice, only hotels with a valid Excise License R.B. 7, which are rated 3 stars or higher and approved by the Tourist Board, as well as specially licensed boutique villas, will be permitted to serve alcohol to resident tourists during this period.
All other licensed liquor outlets across the country, including retail liquor shops, are required to remain closed, as instructed by the Commissioner General of Excise.
Additionally, the department’s operations center will be available to receive complaints related to election-period crimes, such as alcohol and drug-related offenses, as well as issues involving tobacco. The public can contact the Excise Department via the 24-hour hotline 1913, which will remain open throughout the election period.
