The government has advised Sri Lankans not to travel to Lebanon in the next few days.
Foreign Minister Mr. Ali Sabri informs not to go to Lebanon except for an essential need.
The decision was taken amid rising tensions in the Middle East region following the killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in an Israeli attack.
About 6000 Sri Lankans are currently residing in Lebanon.
The minister had earlier said that the government has a plan to repatriate Sri Lankan expatriate workers in Iran and its region if the ongoing conflict escalates into violence.
The President has appointed two committees to monitor the situation and take necessary steps.
