Sri Lanka clinched their first Women’s Asia Cup title with an impressive 8-wicket victory over India at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium on Sunday.

India, opting to bat first after winning the toss, posted a total of 165/6 in their 20 overs. Sri Lanka, however, executed a remarkable chase, led by standout performances from Chamari Athapaththu, Harshita Samarawickrama, and Kavisha Dilhari, reaching the target in the 19th over.

Sri Lanka faced a challenge when Athapaththu, who had scored 61, was dismissed at the end of the 12th over. Despite earlier fielding mishaps, Harshita made amends with a dynamic half-century, while Dilhari’s powerful hitting ensured the team’s triumph. The duo’s efforts secured the victory in front of an enthusiastic crowd at Dambulla.
