The Supreme Court has today (24) issued an interim order suspending Inspector General of Police Deshbandhu Tennakon from his duties as Inspector General of Police.
The Supreme Court has also ordered the President to nominate a suitable person for the post of Inspector General during the interim order against Deshabandu Tennakon.
The Supreme Court has made this order by allowing the hearing of 09 fundamental rights petitions filed by Father Archbishop Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith and a group of others requesting to issue an order annulling the President’s decision to appoint Mr. Deshbandu Tennakoon as the Inspector General of Police.
These fundamental rights petitions have named members of the Constituent Assembly as respondents.
The supreme courts decisions are honoured, sacred , has to be abided by according to the constitution of the country. Which is strongly democratic .
