The petition to postpone the presidential election is dismissed

The Supreme Court decided to dismiss the petition filed requesting to issue an order preventing the holding of the presidential election until an interpretation is given regarding the term of office of the President.

It is also subject to a court fee of one lakh rupees.

The petitioner has also been ordered to deposit the court fee within a month.

The five-member Supreme Court bench led by Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya has issued this order.

The petition was submitted by Mr. CD Lenawa who is an entrepreneur.
