A change in the head positions of the Government Medical Officers Association

Dr. Sanjeeva Tennakoon, a pediatrician at Ragama Teaching Hospital, and Dr. Prabhath Sugathadasa as the new secretary of the Government Medical Officers Association have been unanimously elected as the new president of the Government Medical Officers Association.

The 97th president and secretary of the association were elected by the membership of the association on the 29th of June.

These elections have been done as per the constitution of the association.

Dr. Prabhath Sugathadasa is working at Colombo National Hospital and specialist Dr. Sanjeeva Tennakoon is working at Ragama Teaching Hospital.

The new officials said that it is the hope of the association to carry out the future activities of the association with transparency in accordance with the constitution, to provide the problems of the membership of the association and their rights, as well as to inherit a better health service for the sick people.

They also said that they are planning to resolve the necessary issues through negotiations, minimizing the involvement of trade unions as much as possible.

The former president of the association Dr. Darshan Sirisena and the secretary Dr. Haritha Aluthge recently resigned from their positions in accordance with the constitution of the association.
