Central Bank fined 2 private banks

The Financial Intelligence Unit of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka has taken steps to impose fines on Sampath and DFCC banks.

This is due to the failure of these banks to provide essential information about some suspicious accounts maintained by these banks.

A fine of 2 million rupees on Sampath Bank and 1 million rupees on DFCC Bank have been imposed.

The Central Bank says that the collected fines will be credited to the Consolidated Fund.
