    A message about holding schools tomorrow

    The Ministry of Education says that all schools across the island will operate as normal tomorrow (June 27).

    This was informed in an announcement issued by the Ministry of Education this afternoon (26).

    However, the General Secretary of the Ceylon Teachers’ Union, Joseph Stalin, said this afternoon that the teacher-principal unions will continue to strike tomorrow.

    Based on several demands, teacher-principal unions engaged in a province-wide professional action today (26) reporting sick leave.

    At the same time, trade union members started a protest in Colombo today which started near the Colombo Fort railway station.

    The police fired tear gas and water cannons to disperse the protest march.
