Major General Rohitha Aluvihare has been appointed as the Chief of Staff of the Army.
Rohitha Aluvihare, who actively contributed to the army’s humanitarian operation to save the country from terrorists, was another brave army officer who ordered the capture of LTTE leader Velupilla Prabhakaran in the early hours of May 19, 2009.
It is mentioned in the war reports that two groups of eight people, including Major Rohitha Aluvihare, who commanded the 4th Vijayabahu Regiment at that time, attacked the place where Prabhakaran was hiding.
