The President reveals about a court decision that may challenge the preservation of Buddhism

President Ranil Wickramasinghe says that the proposed rental income tax will not be imposed on ordinary income earners but on high net income earners.

Explaining it in Parliament, he pointed out that the first property owned by a person will be exempted from the proposed rental income tax.

Meanwhile, President Ranil Wickramasinghe said that it is necessary to appoint a parliamentary selection committee to study the decision given by the Supreme Court.

It refers to the Supreme Court’s decision regarding the gender equality bill.

The President said this in today’s meeting, raising a question of rules under parliamentary standing orders.

The President also emphasized that the decision given by the Supreme Court could be a challenge to the rights of women as well as the protection of Buddhism.
