The Constituent Assembly which met yesterday has decided to further postpone the approval of the recommendation given by President Ranil Wickramasinghe to give a service extension to the Attorney General.

That is because some related legal issues have not been resolved.

The Chief Speaker of the Constitutional Council Mr. Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena says that after clarifying the relevant legal situations, he will consider it again next Monday.

The President recently recommended that Attorney General Sanjay Rajaratnam be given a 6-month extension.

Attorney General Sanjay Rajaratnam is scheduled to retire on the 26th.
