Minister of State for Finance Shehan Semasinghe says that he did not receive an invitation to the first Constituency Conference of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna held on the 26th in Talawa, Anuradhapura, with the theme of ‘Satana Arambamu Rajaratin’.
State Minister Shehan Semasinghe, who was a strong member of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna representing the Parliament from Anuradhapura, states that while it is possible to go to a funeral home without an invitation, one cannot go to a meeting like this without an invitation.
The organization of this meeting was led by Anuradhapura District Member of Parliament Mr. SM Chandrasena. He was supported by Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Kalawewa chief organizer and former Chief Minister of North Central Province Mr. SM Ranjith.
The fifth Executive President Mahinda Rajapaksa, the leader of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, also attended the meeting. However, it is also special that he refrained from addressing this meeting.
Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna National Organizer Member of Parliament Namal Rajapaksa was the main speaker and Members of Parliament SM Chandrasena, Johnston Fernando, Rohitha Abeygunawardena, Sanjeeva Edirimanna, D. Weerasinghe, Janaka Thissakuttiarachchi and former Chief Minister SM Ranjith addressed the meeting.
Thus, no definite statement has been made so far as to whether the members of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna who are currently holding ministerial positions in the government will not be invited to these constituency meetings.
