Rain Rain go away – Come again another Day

Two persons have been killed and three others are missing due to heavy rains in the island.

The Disaster Management Center says more than 5,000 people have been affected.

Accordingly, 5,777 persons belonging to 1,403 families belonging to 24 Divisional Secretariat Divisions in 6 districts have been affected, the center said.

At present 67 persons belonging to 16 families are staying in two safe centers.

Kelani River, Gin River, Nilwala River, Kalu River Maussakelle Reservoir has reached overflow level and the people around it should be vigilant, said the Deputy Director of the National Disaster Management Center, Pradeep Kodippili.

Showers are expected in the Sabaragamuwa, Central, North Western and Southern Provinces.

The Disaster Management Center further stated that the landslide warnings issued for 5 districts last night are valid for today also.
