Sri Lanka women’s cricket team managed to equal the ODI series after winning by six wickets in the 3rd ODI against South Africa yesterday.

Chamari Atapattu, who played a record innings of the captaincy in this match in South Africa, scored an unbeaten 195 runs to beat South Africa’s target of 301/5.

This is Sri Lanka’s and the world’s highest successful chase (305/4) in a Women’s ODI match.

Another highlight of this match is Chamari Athapattu’s career-best ODI score, which is also the third-highest individual score by a batsman in the World Women’s ODIs.

This 195* of Chamari is also the highest individual score in a successful run chase in Women’s ODIs and the second highest in both Men’s and Women’s ODIs.

It is also the 2nd highest individual total by a Sri Lankan (Men and Women) in ODIs.

In this match, which became a battle of the captains, Chamari Atapattu defeated the South African captain Laura Wolvaardt’s score of 184*.

The match marked the highest score by a South African player and her fourth century since taking over as captain last September.

Athapattu and Nilakshika de Silva put on a 179-run fifth-wicket partnership, the second-highest for a fifth-wicket stand, to lift Sri Lanka to victory from 126 for 4 in the 21st over.

Sri Lanka 305/4 (44.3 Overs) (Athapatthu 195, De Silva 50, Khaka 2-54)

South Africa 301/5 (50 Overs) (Wolvaardt 184*, Dilhari 2-47)
