The Minister of State for Women and Children’s Affairs Mrs. Geetha Kumarasinghe says that a new bill to prevent domestic violence will be brought to Parliament.
Many provisions have been introduced in this bill for women who are victims of domestic violence, such as having the opportunity to participate for a person close to the victim to file a case.
She also stated that there are 11 temporary detention centers for abused women centered in Gampaha, Ratnapura, Colombo, Matara, Batticaloa, Anuradhapura, Monaragala and Nuwara Eliya districts.
