The government has taken steps to implement the annual free sanitary napkin program from April 2024.
It has been calculated that the total student population of Sri Lanka is about 04 million, of which there are about 1.2 million adult female students.
Among those students, this facility is provided to 800,000 students studying in schools in very difficult and difficult areas, isolated schools, estate schools, and urban schools with poor students.
The proposal presented by the Minister of Education was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers.
