A customs inspector was arrested by the CID

A customs inspector has been arrested by the Special Investigation Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department in connection with an investigation into the sale of five containers of palm oil in the open market, which were banned by customs.

This customs inspector is a resident of Rajagiriya, Nawala. This 33-year-old customs inspector was arrested by the officers of the Criminal Investigation Department on the night of the 26th.

Investigations have revealed that the palm oil which was imported through a Malaysian company was not exempted from customs but it was banned and false information was presented that it was exempted from customs.

Two Customs Superintendents, an Assistant Customs Superintendent and a group of others have been arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department from time to time in connection with this investigation.
