    Major changes to be taken place in the positions within the police department

    Police sources revealed that transfer orders are to be issued to a number of Senior DIGs, DIGs and Divisional Senior and Superintendents of Police today.

    It is stated that the approval of the National Police Commission, which met yesterday, has also been granted for those transfers.

    The Chief of Police in charge of the Southern Province and the Chiefs of Police of Galle and Elpitiya are also scheduled to be transferred here. The largest number of police chiefs are scheduled to be transferred in the southern province.

    Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police Mahesh Senaratne as Southern Province Police Chief, Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police Mr. Tilak Dhanapala as Northern Provincial Police Chief, Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police Mr. Priyantha Weerasuriya as North Central Provincial Police Chief, and Mr. Mahinda Gunaratne as Western Provincial Police Chief will be appointed.

    Apart from this, Senior DIG Mr. Rajitha Sri Daminda as Assistant Chief of Police, Senior DIG Mr. Sajeeva Medawatta as Head of Training and Higher Education Division, Senior DIG Mr. Ranmal Kodithuvakku as Chief of Crime and Traffic Division, Senior DIG Mr. Asanka Karavita as the head of tourism and navigation section will be appointed according to the details disclosed by the police headquarters.

    Many police chiefs in charge of Negombo, Kandy, Embilipitiya, Elpitiya and other police divisions are scheduled to be transferred. According to this, Negombo Divisional Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Anuruddha Bandara will be transferred as Kandy Divisional Police Chief and Embilipitiya Divisional Police Chief Mr. Sudath Mathasingha will be transferred as Elpitiya Police Divisional Chief.
