Electricity purchase agreements were signed yesterday afternoon for the solar energy project to be developed in Solar Energy Park in Gonnoruwa, Hambantota.
The project is being developed by a consortium of 17 local developers.
This ground mount solar project consists of 13 10 MW power plants and 4 5 MW power plants with a total capacity of 150 MW.
The project with an investment of USD 150 million will be developed under a new business model under CEBs Standardized Power Purchase Agreement (SPPA) along with transmission and grid facilities.
The project aims to start construction in May 2024 and connect to the grid by mid-2025.
