The remaining 26,000 doses of Pfizer Covid vaccine will be given to fishermen in Mannar.

The Army Commander has stated this while participating live in a morning program on a private TV channel.

The Pfizer vaccine was also given to 1,130 foreign students studying in foreign countries enrolled in the Covid Task Force at the Army Hospital yesterday (08).

The Army Commander further stated that the rest of the students are expected to be given Pfizer vaccine today (09) and tomorrow (10) as well.

Due to delays of Astrazeneca vaccine import, Pfizer vaccine had recently been given as the second dose of AstraZeneca vaccine to people in Colombo 1-15, but it was suspended one day later.

It was confirmed that after two weeks, a stockpile of AstraZeneca vaccine would be available through the World Health Organization’s Covax facility.

With some baseless propaganda about it on social media, then there was the issue in society as to who would administer this expensive and hard-to-store Pfizer vaccine.
