Cabinet approval has been received to start two floating solar power generation pilot projects with a capacity of one megawatt each on the surface of the Embilipitiya Chandrika Lake Reservoir and on the surface of the Sevanagala Kiriibban Lake Reservoir.
Thus, the government said the implementation of the proposed projects will enable the national grid to add three-gigawatt hours of annual electricity generation.
These two pilot projects will be built according to the negotiation program signed between the Government of Korea and the Ministry of Power and Energy of Sri Lanka.
