The Five-Member Committee Gegins Investigations into the Events at Kurunegala Hospital

The Ministry of Health has appointed a 5-member expert committee to investigate the complications of several patients admitted to the dialysis unit of the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital and several deaths reported since January.

Health Secretary Specialist Dr. Palitha Mahipala says that the expert committee appointed by the Ministry of Health has already visited the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital and is holding discussions with the relevant specialists.

Chief epidemiologist Samitha Ginage is the chairman of this expert committee.

He also said that as other members of the committee, several specialist doctors, including a doctor specializing in viral diseases, a doctor in the blood department, have been appointed to this committee.

The committee has been informed to provide a report to the Ministry of Health on the measures to be taken to conduct a complete investigation of the above incident.
