Information has been revealed that about four hundred vehicles, including cars that the Sri Lankan Customs have not cleared, have been registered in the Motor Transport Department.
The Bribery or Corruption Investigation Commission says that it found specific information about 156 vehicles.
Most of these vehicles are said to belong to the category of luxury vehicles.
The government has lost a lot of tax due to these vehicles not being properly cleared and being falsely registered.
Accordingly, out of these vehicles, six vehicles have been taken into custody by the Bribery or Corruption Commission based on the court order issued to take 7 vehicles from their owners and hand them over to the customs.
The Bribery or Corruption Investigation Commission says that five of the vehicles have already been handed over to the customs.
