United National Party Secretary General Palitha Range Bandara says that the presidential election will be held next October.
Addressing the Anuradhapura District UNP Conference, Mr. Range Bandara asked everyone to prepare for the next presidential election as the current President Ranil Wickramasinghe will definitely contest.
The Secretary General further said:
“In 2020, many people thought that there would be no revival due to the fall of the party in the general election. But when the country was in trouble, he fearlessly came forward and accepted the challenge of moving the country forward. Before two years have passed, Mr. Ranil Wickramasinghe is taking steps to put the country back on the right path and recover the economy. Therefore, we request Mr. Ranil Wickramasinghe to be supported and re-appointed to the presidency in October.”
Meanwhile, a special resolution was presented at this conference that Mr. Ranil Wickramasinghe should run for the next presidential election and it was passed unanimously.
