Today (01) Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena gave his assent to the bill on the security of online systems.
This Act shall come into force at the same time.
After debating in Parliament on January 23rd and 24th, this bill was passed with amendments amid opposition from many local and international parties.
The Bill becomes an Act by recording the Speaker’s certificate as per Standing Order 74 under Articles 79 and 80 of the Constitution.
