Online Safety Bill will be Debated in Parliament Today

The proposed Online Safety Bill will be debated in Parliament today.

It was passed by a majority of 33 votes in today’s voting in Parliament to ask whether this draft will be debated or not.

83 MPs have voted in favor of it.

50 people voted against it.

Accordingly, the second reading debate of the proposed Online Security Bill will be held in Parliament today (23).

Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena called an emergency party leader meeting this morning to discuss the online draft, after which it was decided that a vote should be held to ask whether the draft will be debated.
