    A Discussion Today on Addressing Obstacles to Electronic and Postal Voting Systems

    Another discussion will be held today (19) between the members of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry and the members of the Election Commission appointed to submit recommendations for the amendment of the current election laws.

    Mr. Madhava Devasurendra, Secretary of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry stated that there will be a further exchange of views on the existing obstacles regarding the amendment of the election laws.

    The discussion will focus mainly on the financial and practical obstacles to increasing the number of parties using electronic and postal voting systems.

    In the meantime, the Presidential Commission of Inquiry announced that it has also started studying the electoral systems of countries with democratic regimes such as India, Canada, Britain, and South Africa.

    He said that more than 50 proposals have been received by the people and civil organizations regarding the amendment of the election laws.

    Mr. Madhava Devasurendra mentioned that the study has already started.
